The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) remains committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, student-centric, and efficient examination and evaluation system. As part of its continuous effort to strengthen the examination and evaluation processes through the use of technology, the Board has introduced On Screen Marking (OSM) of Class XII answer books for
the 2026 main examinations.
The OSM process was introduced with the objective of ensuring greater standardization, accuracy, confidentiality, and expeditious processing of evaluation-related activities. The Board feels that the OSM framework would help in bringing greater consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in the evaluation process.
The Board acknowledges that, notwithstanding the advantages of the system, certain concerns and representations have been received from anxious students and other stakeholders through various modes including social media handles, regarding the results declared and the OSM process itself. Taking cognizance of these concerns raised by students and in the interest of ensuring a student-friendly and responsive mechanism, CBSE has introduced structured post-result facilities with prescribed procedures.
