FOUNDATIONAL STAGE - I
Pre-Primary (3 - 6 Years)
We at Narayana Vidyalayam know that preschool is often a child’s first experience away from both the home and their parents’ loving care. Hence, every element of our offering to you and your child is a result of hours of careful deliberation, research, planning by a team of professionals. Narayana Vidyalayam early year program has been created exclusively for the children in our care. It is a way of learning based on evidence from recent findings in Behavioural Science, Neuroscience and Educational psychology. Inspired by some of the most successful early Education Curriculum from across the globe, our new program is well aligned to the recommendations in our latest National Education Policy.
The foundation for all core learning and curriculum areas flow through play. Real concrete learning of mathematical concepts, language, communication, literacy, scientific thought, the world, physical development, personal development and talents are all discovered and built on through play and enquiry.

OUR PRE-PRIMARY FRAMEWORK
LEARNING CORNER
Learning Corner is based on a child – centered approach to give children the freedom to choose what to do and promotes socialisation in learning. Sensorial materials and puzzles help engage and challenge the minds of children. Discovering, building and exploring with blocks and puzzles offers hands-on education. With these tools and toys, little learners can begin to understand concepts that include balance, gravity, sorting and organisation.
READING CORNER
Reading corner helps develop reading habits in the early years, introducing children to a variety of board books, picture books and story books, in different languages. Developing early literacy supports a love of language and reading. Time spent at the Reading Corner promotes a child’s critical thinking skills and enhances their creative thinking.
ART & CRAFT CORNER
Arts and crafts corner is a big hit with early learners. Working with materials teaches children about colours, shapes and textures, how things work and how they fit together. It encourages them to play and experiment in a fun and relaxed environment.
DRAMATIC PLAY AREA
Dramatic Play Area is a space for children to bring their imagination to life with the help of costumes, props and puppets. Dramatic play helps children explore real life scenarios, as well as perform pretend play ideas.
FOUNDATIONAL STAGE - II
Class 1st & 2nd (6 - 8 Years)
The curriculum for class 1 and 2 is an extension of the above, bringing in more of academic content delivered in a child friendly atmosphere, keeping in mind the developmental milestones of the specific age group. Importance of play in the Foundational stage cannot be undermined as it aids in social and emotional development in addition to cognitive development in the young learners.Learning by doing is critical in early education. The teaching learning strategies include Projects and activities involving collaboration with peers, enabling children to develop a wide range of skills.
The thematic approach of teaching and learning, where many areas of the curriculum are connected together and integrated within a theme help children to make meaningful connections through a theme and explore different topics within the theme.
Children use multiple senses and actively use their hands. From simple toys for play, to specific manipulatives for counting and numeracy, a variety of TLM is used in this Stage of development.
The holistic development of learners in this stage is further captured through the Holistic Progress Card (HPC), which has inputs from all the caregivers and peers to add more perspectives to the learning curve.
Class 1 – 6 to 7 year olds
Class 2 – 7 to 8 year olds
PREPARATORY STAGE
Class 3rd to 5th(8 - 11 Years)
These three years of education are designed to be built on the play, discovery, and activity-based pedagogical and curricular style of the Foundational Stage. Use of light textbooks as well as aspects of more formal but interactive classroom learning is intended to lay a solid groundwork across subjects, including reading, writing, speaking, physical education, art, languages, science, and mathematics. Skill development is a valuable element in the pedagogy adopted which is activity based, infusing subject integration and Multiple Intelligences.
MIDDLE STAGE
Class 6th to 8th(11 - 14 Years)
The Middle Stage comprises three years of education, building on the pedagogical and curricular style of the Preparatory Stage, but with the introduction of subject teachers for learning and discussion of the more abstract concepts in each subject that students will be ready for at this stage across the sciences, mathematics, arts, social sciences, and humanities. Experiential learning within each subject, and explorations of relations among different subjects, will be encouraged and emphasized despite the introduction of more specialized subjects and subject teachers. Students are taken through the SEL and AEP modules to tide over the developmental issues of adolescence.
SECONDARY STAGE
Class 9th to 12th(14 - 18 Years)
The Secondary Stage includes four years of multidisciplinary study, building on the subject-oriented pedagogical and curricular style of the Middle Stage, but with greater depth, greater critical thinking, greater attention to life aspirations, and greater flexibility and student choice of subjects. Students would have the option of exiting after Grade 10 and re-entering in the next phase to pursue any other courses available in Grades 11- 12. In addition to in depth study of academic subjects, there is equal stress on adoption of worthy values and exposure to different career options.
